Dyscalculia – Learning Difference in Numeracy

Crackerjack Kids provide Screening assessments, and Tuition Services for children who struggle with Numeracy.

We provide Multi-Sensory Instruction for children who are having difficulties with their numeracy. Instruction follows a progression from the concrete to the representational to the abstract. Simply put this means that children will learn using concrete materials in the first instance, followed by the use of pictures or drawing and then lastly using this information, convert mathematical concepts to symbols and numbers. Kids who struggle with maths often have difficulties with understanding the abstract numbers and symbols.

Instruction occurs between 1 and 5 hours per week depending on the needs of the child.

Our instruction is both diagnostic and prescriptive. The lessons are written for each individual’s needs and these needs are communicated to parents and school-teachers as appropriate.

Instruction is direct and explicit, whereby the sequence of skills ensures that students are successful. Each individual skill is practiced until mastery and never is the student expected to know anythingthat has not been previously taught or practiced.
